Smith is proud to lead COBRA Firing Systems as Founder & CEO, having built the fireworks technology company from the ground up. From startup status to established venture, Smith has been a central component of the company — every step of the way. Today, he is proud to stand at the helm of a leading company in the fireworks industry, known for their unique, affordable and user-friendly products and pyrotechnics module systems. COBRA is also known for COBRA-CON, the premier event for pyrotechnic professionals and backyard firework shooting enthusiasts.
Education & Training
Before leaping into the fireworks industry as a pyrotechnic professional, Scott Smith always harbored a love for expressive light shows. Even as a backyard shooter and aficionado of the art of fireworks, Smith had his mind aligned with the analytical. Smith’s academic career laid the foundation for his deep dive into the transformative backend of pyrotechnic displays.
Scott Smith maintains a dual degree in Computer Science and Computer Systems Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in Troy, NY. The Ithaca, NY based entrepreneur has drawn on his background in computer science every step of the way in his fireworks technology career. Smith fuses his passion for fireworks with his expertise in computer systems engineering.
